2009 was a groundbreaking year for chiropractic research, especially for studies showing that chiropractic is safe and effective for children. And, it isn't just relief of aches and pains that chiropractic provides youngsters.
For instance, scientific studies released in 2009 demonstrated that chiropractic care may alleviate developmental delay problems, difficulty breastfeeding and bed-wetting. Additional research showed that chiropractic care may prevent colic, as well as behavioral problems that commonly arise in children who suffered from colic during infancy.
And, new research also added to previous studies confirming that chiropractic care is safe and effective for kids. For instance, a report published in the journal Explore, which pooled data on 577 children under chiropractic care, found "a high rate of improvement with respect to the children's presenting complaints, in addition to salutary effects unrelated to the children's initial clinical presentations." The study also indicated an extremely low rate of adverse events, far lower than other studies have shown are linked with common childhood medications.
