Neck Pain

OH!  The Pain in My Neck! That nagging pain in your neck is getting worse everyday.   Working at the computer, reading, gardening, even helping the kids with your homework just aggravates the stiffness and soreness.  Now, it’s not just a stiff neck, but the pain is radiating down into your shoulders and up into your head.  Pain relievers only provide temporary and minimal relief and it’s only getting worse.  What is wrong and who can possibly help?

What may be the cause of your neck pain?

The pain in your neck may actually be caused by what is called a “subluxation” or possibly a pinched nerve in the neck.  Don’t worry. It’s not as scary as it sounds.  The vertebrae in your back and neck stack up on top of each other like building blocks.  In between each set of vertebrae are nerves that stem out from your spinal cord.  These nerves go to every part of your body.  When your vertebrae “come off their track” or become misaligned, they can put pressure on those nerves causing pain, stiffness and other maladies.  So, if the vertebrae in your neck have become misaligned or “subluxated”, then that may be causing the neck pain you’re experiencing.

So, what can be done?

You have got to get rid of this sore neck, or it may drive you to distraction!  The first thing you should do is find a chiropractor.  Chiropractors, as defined by Webster’s Online Dictionary ref “diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions of spinal column and extremities to prevent disease and correct abnormalities of the body believed to be caused by interference with the nervous system.”   There are lots of chiropractors around, so how do you find one that is right for you?  Go to our search bar on the right and enter your postal code or suburb and begin getting rid of that stiff neck!

What can I expect when I visit the chiropractor?

When you go into the office you’ll be asked to fill out a patient history form.  Then you’ll be given a full chiropractic assessment. X-rays may be taken of your neck and back.  The chiropractor will review them with you and give you a full report of their findings.  If the chiropractor determines that you have a misalignment, or subluxation, they may schedule a series of visits which could include adjustments and therapy.  Treatment usually consists of manual adjustments, which very slightly move the vertebrae back into alignment, taking pressure off of the nerves and providing relief to your sore neck. There will likely be a schedule of short visits that will be important for you to keep.  Most insurances cover a certain number of visits, so just check with them before beginning treatment.

Nothing is worse than a constant nagging pain in the neck!  The soreness, the resulting headaches, the tension in your neck and shoulders can make it difficult to get through the day.  Don’t suffer another moment. Find a chiropractor now by using this service and take the first step to the neck pain relief you deserve!
