Muscle Soreness
Oh, My sore muscles!...and Shoulders!...an
It seems as if everything you do causes muscle pain. Mowing the lawn gives you tight muscles in your back. Giving the kids a bath strains the muscles between your shoulders. Even just sitting at the computer gives you muscle pain. Each day it's something else and each time it seems to get worse and worse. Aspirin,or Panadol only provide temporary relief. Is there anything that can be done and who can help?
What may be the cause?
The muscle pain you're feeling in your neck, shoulders and back may actually be caused by the bones in your back! Imagine the bones in your back stacked up like building blocks. These bones are called vertebrae. In between these vertebrae are holes and through these holes travel nerves that begin at your brain, travel down the spinal cord and out to every single part of your body.
If you think about it, everything in your body is controlled by nerves and they all begin in the same place. These bones and nerves are all surrounded and kept in place by your muscles.
When the vertebrae slip off their track, the sore muscles have to compensate, move from where they've been and protect the bones in their new locations and that can cause muscle soreness. Even if they move just a little, the muscles don't like it.
When the bones move off of their track, it's called a subluxation. You may not even know that you have a subluxation, but your sore muscles certainly do!
Is there anything I can do?
Who can fix a subluxation? A chiropractor. Enter your postal code into our search bar on top of this page and find a chiropractor in your area.
For a small fee you'll get an assessment, x-rays, and hopefully the beginning to the end of your sore muscles! When you visit a chiropractor's office, you'll be asked to fill out a patient history form which is followed by an assessment by a trained professional.
You may have x-rays taken of your back and neck. The chiropractor will sit down with you and give you a full report of the sum of their findings. You may actually be able to see the subluxation on the x-ray.
Finally, the answer to the tight muscles and muscle pain you've been experiencing! The chiropractor may suggest that you set up a series of visits which normally include adjustments and therapy.
Why can't it be done all at once? Because the muscles, just as they are getting used to your bones being in the wrong places, need time to adjust to moving the bones back into the right places.
The visits are short, typically painless and most insurance companies cover a certain number of visits.
Just imagine an evening after mowing the lawn and giving the kids a bath, with no muscle soreness.
Certainly that's worth trying a chiropractor and getting the relief you deserve!
